How the daily puzzle works

At midnight UTC a new picture is chosen from a set of detailed photos: forests, textures, skylines and crowds that are genuinely tricky to assemble. It's cut into 96 pieces, and everyone gets exactly the same pieces in the same starting positions. That makes the times comparable: if someone beat you, they solved the same puzzle faster.

You can play it on a phone on the bus or on a computer at lunch. If you stop halfway, your progress is kept, so reopening the daily picks up where you left off, even on another device if you're signed in.

The leaderboard

The daily leaderboard ranks each player's fastest solve of the day's puzzle. It resets when the next puzzle arrives. To appear on it, sign in with Google. You can do that on the win screen after you finish, and your time is saved as if you'd been signed in all along.

Streaks, XP and coins

Solving the daily on consecutive days builds a streak, and streaks of 3, 7 and 30 days earn badges. The daily is also worth more XP than a normal solo puzzle, which helps you level up and unlock the bigger sizes (384 and 1,500 pieces).

Tip for a fast time: turn the reference picture on, build the border first, then work in color groups. On detailed photos, sorting loose pieces by texture is often quicker than hunting one piece at a time.

Questions about the daily

When does the new puzzle come out?

At 00:00 UTC every day. The countdown above shows how long until the next one in your time.

Can I play the daily with a friend?

The daily itself is a solo challenge so the times are fair. To puzzle together, create a room and pick any size.

Can I replay it?

Yes, but only your first finish counts for rewards. Your best time counts on the leaderboard.
